I was able to create a card with Comforting Florals. I love the simplicity & style of this stamp set. It was very easy to create with! I have a friend dying from cancer. She's on hospice care & may only have days left. So naturally I'm thinking of her daughter at this time. My mother died from cancer a number of years ago. I understand how hard it is! When the time comes I will send this card.

I had a lot of fun using Christmas2build

I always need LOTS of tags during the Christmas season! It's really great to have a little stash on hand, so I decided I'd make a few tags with this adorable set! I love to paper piece and that's what I did here. Just stamped on pretty paper (K & co. I think) that I got last year. Smaller prints work best. These stamps don't have a lot of fussy detail, so I was able to cut them out in a snap! Once again the Twinery's colors were a perfect match & the perfect accent!

The die that I am using for this project today is the Sizzix Scoreboards Bird Die !

Now let's take a look at the projects! I decided I wanted to try the die on wool felt and make some cute handmade Christmas ornaments for my children.

Since wool felt can be a little pricey, I measured just enough to cut a bird, for 3 of them. I ran it through with a double layer and took it right to my sewing machine. I left a small opening for the fiberfill and then stitched to close . The pink bird... I added wings and vintage buttons.

The brown one got a pinback. It is a festive touch on a sweater!

The little jingle bells were from a local craft store. They are the perfect size & colors. I love the marschino twine...it looks great with these adorable birds!

There is so much you can do with the bird die! I thought it would be a fun package topper too!

Some other ideas I had: Hair clippie, Magnets, Napkin ring holder, Cupcake toppers!!

The Baseball Party

I'm finally getting pics uploaded from my son and daughter's birthday parties! I'm going to start with Carson's baseball party. There are quite a few...hopefully it won't take to long to view on your end! :) I'll try to upload Madeleine's pics tomorrow. I asked my husband to make a large chalkboard for the party. He bought MDF board for Lowes and painted with chalkboard paint. I just used the kids sidewalk chalk to draw with. I think it was a little wet, thats why I got clearer images. I was inspired by this party on Amy Atlas.

My birthday boy! :) I bought the glass coke bottles at Costco.

Paper straws are from Hey Yo Yo on Etsy!

Peanut bags were from Hey Yo Yo too!

Ice cream cups from my shop !

My other daughter with cotton candy cones!

My friend made the yummy brownie ice cream cake! We had it out for a short time otherwise it would have been a mess! This is the pic when the cake was in the freezer!

I had a SUPER busy weekend! Two of my childern were born on August 12th, so we had BOTH of their parties on the 13th. ( I know a "little" crazy!) My son's baseball party was in the morning!
The SCOR-Pal is a huge time saver when you're making paper rosettes. Especially when the folds are only 1/4" wide! I put together fun & festive ice cream toppers and tied on wooden spoons with the NEW denim twine from The Twinery. It matched the colors of the party perfectly! The vintage ice cream cups & spoons are for sale in my shop. I'll be posting lots of party pics here very soon!

Madeleine's Patisserie Party

As I continue working on my son & daughter's parties, I thought I'd share a couple more pics with you.
Madeleine loves pastel drop mints, so I wanted to display them in a fun way for her party. Since there's always so many things to buy, I went "shopping" through the things I already own instead of just buying more stuff. A while ago I found this neat jewelry tree from IKEA -it's a great base for my "sweet tree".

I bought adorable cupcake liners from my local bakery shop and punched 2 holes. Charcoal twine from the Twinery worked great as a hanger!

Busy Summer!

I can't believe how fast the summer is flying by! .........
My oldest daughter informed me yesterday of her spots all over her tummy. Later I discovered the other 2 displaying the same thing: Chicken pox...yeah! At least they are not in school right now! But it does cause some rearranging in the schedule!
I have been busily working on my 2 kids birthdays for a few weeks now. I'm planning a Baseball party for my 8yr old & a Patisserie party for my 13 yr old(inspired by my daughter Madeleine's french name) My son & daughter were both born on August 12th, 5 years apart! I know it's crazy but were having Carson's party in the morning and Madeleine's in the evening!

I came across this wonderful invitation over on O happy Day. I just followed Jordan's tutorial. I thought it would be a fun and unique way to invite Madeleine's friends! Jordan was so nice to include the label to print too! If you decide to make these yourself.....I found the poppers at Wal-Mart for 50 cents. I HIGHLY suggest NOT popping them! Just peel off the top & labels and dump out the confetti. That way you don't have to disassemble them! I tried to take one apart ...let me tell you it was a royal pain! So...don't even try! :) lol

The colors for M's party are Pink, Green, Black & white. This polkadot tissue will look really cute as her guests open their mail.

I started loving Hello Kitty around age 10! Some 30 years later my girls love her too! The Hello Kitty line offers a stamp for every occasion!

First up... I have a little card for a friend going to California this summer. I love adding bits of twine to buttons! Here I've used Cappuccino!

Next up... I have a fun thank-you card for a friend who really went the extra mile to help me out of a bind.

Another fun little project are these flat glass marble magnets. Now as you can see I didn't quite finish. But all I need is a little diamond glaze and a strong magnet!
Hey...a good craft project for my kids this afternoon!

Finally, I have a little winter ensemble using Fancy Flakes. Some friends of mine got married last Dec.31st, and their theme was snowflakes! How perfect would this have been back then!

A couple of sweet and simple cards. I think the charcoal twine really sets it off!

Here I made a matchbook notepad which slides into the bag nicely!

And a sweet little tin with some yummy treats!

Mini Pom Pom Fun!

Hey there! I'm here to share a few ideas using mini poms! I have made pom poms with my fingers, a piece of cardboard and I even went out and bought a little Clover pom maker. I wanted to make itty bitty poms so when I came across this technique on Pinterest, I had to try ....
This is my own version tutorial.

1. Get the color of your choice Twinery twine, a nice sharp pair of pointed scissors. ( Mine are Fiskars) A long tined fork and waxed cord. I bought my Darice waxed cord at Joann's for $1.99 . It's located in the beading section by the stretch & hemp cord. Your going to wrap about 30 times around 2 of the tines.

2. Take a 4" or 5" length of waxed cord and go around the baker's twine tightly tie once. I then slide it off the tines, pinch hard, pull on the waxed cord and tie again. The waxed cord holds really well and you don't have to worry about your little pom coming loose!

3. The waxed cord is perfect to hold onto when you start cutting your loops too. I actually cut from the back to the front it's easier to get the point of your scissor in there.

4. After the loops are cut, keep trimming all around to shape it in a ball. I pinch the ball to flatten so the edges line up better.

My first project is a fun holly tag. I know it's early to start thinking about Christmas, but If you start now, think of how relaxed your holiday would be ;) wink!
I cut a length of honeydew and peapod twine, brought the ends through the front and tied a bow.

My 2nd project is a cheery birthday card.

I don't have step by step pics for the grass. But what I did was cut a 1/2" piece of cardstock the width of my card, wrapped twine all the way down. I carefully ran one edge through my sewing machine and the cut almost to the top of one side. That way I'd have longer grass in the back. I spread the twine apart and cut some of the cardstock away so it would not show. Then I adhered with hot glue for a strong hold.

I took the long ends of wax cord and threaded them with an embroidery needle so I could sew on the pollen. I attached it to the card, but I was going to make it into a little pin. My next little project is a 2 in 1. Hair bobby and gift tag. This time I left the waxed cord long so my little Caterpillar could have antennas!
I also used the extra waxed cord to tie the mini poms onto the bobby pin. It holds well and is less messy than glue! Isn't she precious! hee :)

Lastly, I have for you a little cupcake ...celebrating a milestone birthday. Mine! :) I'm turning 40 this Wednesday, May 18th to be exact! For the cherry, I used a little mono adhesive on a punched circle and twisted on Maraschino twine. Then I cut up little bits of twine for the sprinkles! This is me and my little family on Mother's Day!

Ladies' Retreat and Spring Twine

Yea! It's almost spring! I had a super fun and busy weekend making these fun tags for our ladies' retreat! My dear husband punched hundreds of flowers. Each tag had custom colors with 4 stacked flowers. Each flower was hand sculpted to create a 3 dimensional look! What was really great The Twinery has yummy bakers twine that matches perfectly! It also makes it a cinch to tie up the bags! For this project I chose Lilac, Caribbean and Honeydew....YUM!

The Wild Game Banquet 2011

Did your January fly by as quickly? Mine sure did! I was super busy the last few weeks getting ready for our annual Wild Game banquet Jan 29th. My husband and I worked tirelessly building and decorating a cabin set and I designed these really cool hors' oeuvres tables out of logs. Good thing he saved a bunch for me to choose from! It's fantastic being married to an Arborist!
I'm actually going to sell these in my NEW Etsy store! I think they would be so great for a Woodland or Rustic chic wedding! We made 6 of them. They're around 3 1/2' to 4 1/2' tall. The bigger slices of wood are about 3' across.

So I'm submitting this fun little card before the strike of midnight to fulfill my duty as a Twinery design team member :)

I cut out a 3 1/4" cardstock circle and cut that in half. Took my mono adhesive....put a good amount on and adhered the twine. When I got to the Lilac, I just cut away the extra cardstock.
Since I didn't have a cute little "love" stamp, I hand wrote it with my white Signo pen!

That's it! Simple. Cute.

A New Year!

What a blessing a New Year is! A great time to remember all the wonderful things God did last year and a time to make changes for the better as a wife and parent!

This May, Lord willing, I will reach a milestone birthday ...the big 4-0! It's a wonder how OLD I used to think 40 was :) hee!

So anyways, Christmas has come and gone, and I wanted to share some photos of Christmas treats I made for my 3 kids school parties, Church decorations and THE wedding! Let me tell you how much fun that was .... and a ton of work LOL :0) I think I finally have gotten caught up on my sleep!

The round balls are candy cane Oreo truffles. My 5th grader brought those in. The pretzel rods went to my 1st graders class and the candy coated oreos went in with my 7th grader! A lot of work ,but my kids were very appreciative!

The next set of pics are what I was busily working on for our Christmas cantata! The man who designed the program graciously let me come up with the idea for the decor and execute it!

The hanging banners were inspired by Christmas decorations at Somerset Collection ( a beautiful mall 4 miles from my house) It's hard to judge the scale. They are about 5 ft wide and over 6 ft long. My great husband helped engineer these and hung them in the garage so I could decorate. I wish I had taken a close up photo so you could see all the gilded fruit piled high at the top. Miles of ribbon ,velvet roses, twinkle lights!

The white banners were a backdrop for Nativity images that matched the flyer for our Christmas cantata.
Here is a scope of the auditorium . I need to spruce up the wreaths for next year! I made them about 16 years ago. The center arrangement I made at least 5 yrs ago. I fixed it up a bit this year with gorgeous red berries and frosty boxwood greens! It's very sparkly in person. I try to get a close up shot later.

I need to go run an errand, but when I get back I'll show you pics of the wedding!

Twinery printables

The twinery has super cute FREE printables for Thanksgiving! I needed to bring in some goodies for my son's 1st grade Thanksgiving party today.

I put a couple candy bars in a cello bag, added a top note shape folded over the top, then just adhered the printable and sentiment. Simple & cute!

These printables were a huge lifesaver, and the kids really loved them!

It's been way too long.....

Yes , I'm long over due for a post.......it's quite embarrassing frankly!

I have a very busy and hectic life but I like it that way! Besides taking care of my family, I have many other things I'm working on. To start with, this Wed. I'm doing a craft with my son's 1st grade class. I need to bring in some goodies too. These turkey cakes pops were last years

treat!

I also host a craft club at my kids high school, once a week. We are working on Christmas goodies for them to give friends and family. One of my other projects is putting together an elaborate della-robbia style garland to decorate our church for the Christmas program.

Another big project I have is for a friends wedding Dec. 31st. It's a Winter wonderland theme. One of the things I'm doing is eco friendly snowflakes. They are made from paper towel rolls.

Then in January, we put on an annual Wild Game banquet at our church. 3 years ago, my husband and other men built a life size model of a log cabin, last year we had a pier with canoes
and a pond with live trout! We served hors d'oeuvres in a dingy and put the cheese and crackers in tackle boxes! This January, we are going to do a reverse cabin, and make it look like the inside. I'll try to get pics on those in the near future!

Another thing I very excited about....I have been chosen to be on the Twinery Design Team!

The Toledo Zoo field trip

I went with my daughter & her 3rd grade class today to the Toledo Zoo in Ohio. We were going on the 7th originally, but weather in the 30's would have been torture! :) What a difference 10 days makes! Clear blue skies today...the sun out....temp rising to 70 degrees...the animals in rare form, it was the perfect day!

The polar bears were great! I've never seen action like that at our Detroit zoo!

They were diving & splashing...even a little kiss kiss hehehe!Contemplation.....Hmmm...what's for dinner tonight? This gorilla was so funny playing peek-a-boo with Carson! (Too bad the glare was there)

We had a great day yesterday! The day started with a wonderful Easter program at church, reflecting on the people lives christ touched while on earth. After church a wonderful lunch with family & friends. On the menu was ham, potato salad, stuffed cabbage, sweet potatoes, triple bean salad, deviled eggs and yummy desserts.

I had to buy Martha Stewart's new craft book...naturally! Inside is a lovely spring cake with crepe paper snowdrops I knew I had to make for Easter! I didn't have time to find the special phyllo dough the nest called for, so I used chocolate shavings to start with. My 5 yr son then suggested the toffee licorice we bought at IKEA. What a smart little guy :)

My daughter contracted Fifth's disease at school and yesterday broke out in a full body rash! I didn't even know she had it till the school called yesterday afternoon. It dawned on me that's probably why I was feeling so lousy....she gave it to me! 50% of adults will get it and the symptoms are similar to arthritis! Goodie! :) So sure enough today my knees, wrists and fingers are killing me. Motrin takes the edge off, but I still have flu like feelings. So seeing the Storque article brought a smile!

Grand prize giveaway today!

Thanks to all of you who have been hangin' with me today! I have saved the best for last...of course! The grand finale is a surprise prize! Whoever wins this will be the 1st to see what's inside! All I can tell you is good things come in small packages...no...no diamonds I'm afraid! This sweet mini lunch box is packed with lots of Paper Treat goodness! You have my permission to ush & gush....and let everyone else know what they missed out on! teeheehee!

Maybe you have seen the felt squares in my store. I promised to upload this project several weeks ago......Well that's finally getting done :)
The second prize in today's giveaway is a felt frame kit! I have provided a tutorial below. You'll need an exacto type knife & hot glue gun. You could also use another glue, but I like the quick results with the hot glue! Although I don't have my cutting mat pictured, I did use one!

You can cut the entire inside of the felt square or leave a few of the curly cues behind, like I did with the yellow square. Cut the flowers apart to further embellish. I used the green flower as leaves.

Recycle those cereal boxes and use a 3.5 in square for the backing. I rounded the corners with my scissor. The photo needs to be slightly smaller, so I made it 3.25".

Use your hot glue gun along 3 of the sides. The top is open so you can slide in your photo.

Add a small amount of glue to your flowers. The mauve frame has 1 flower left in 2 corners, that I did not cut out. I used those to build upon with the other flowers. You can use a nice sharp scissor to cut leaves and pieces of the flowers.

Here is your little kit to make the 4 frames pictured. I have included ribbon and a few little flowers. 2 of the frames can be hung and 2 can go on the fridge. Just hot glue a magnet!

I promised not 1 but 3 prizes today! I'm going to do this in instalments. So you'll have to come back later to see the 2nd and 3rd prizes.
For the 1st prize, I have designed a trio of one-of-a-kind owls that are super cute! Here we have Ollie, Molly and Fred! hehehe! They would be adorable on a scrapbook page or a greeting card. They can be used as gift tags too! So the winner can let me know if she'd like string attached! They measure about 4"x5" each!

I'm also giving away this precious felt bag with 4 mini cards! CUTE CUTE!!

Popping in for a really quick update.......Madeleine, my 10 year old....doing much better, Annika, my 8 year old.....doing a little better...still has a deep bronchial cough, and Carson ....the little trouper....had me worried! I have never seen any of my children gasping for air like that! He's on antibiotics , so that's doing it's thing. God is good! Thanks for your notes of encouragement!

Next Tuesday I'll resume with the grand prize! There will actually be 3 prizes !!!!! 1st, 2nd and 3rd place! So you have a few days to spread the word and tell your friends to stop by!

My Mother loved to travel, and so growing up was kind of an adventure for me! Well when I was about 5 or 6, we had a Volkswagen pop-up camper, and we traveled a lot! My Mom & Dad would sleep in the back, my brother got the cot in the pop-up & I slept in the cot above the driver's seat!

Now that I have my own family, I really want my children to see the beauties of America! Mt. Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Rockies. I remember being in the Redwoods, and driving through a tree! Dec 9th when I was in NYC, I hopped on the subway and went to ground zero. It's one thing to see it on TV, but to be there in person made me speechless! I also walked across the street to Battery Park so I could get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty. I got a little choked up because I was reminded about the things we Americans take for granted.. Liberty and Freedom! My Mother was a Swedish immigrant, and my Father a Canadian immigrant so it really hits home with me!

So my question for you is, how many states have I been to? And tell me where you have been, and what your favorite place is.

I'm really excited about it! I was out shopping last night, for yummy goodies! I'm a sucker for those sales! I stayed up til 2:45a.m. working on NEW designs! WoW! What delicious paper I found! My favorite part of Paper Treats is designing! There's something about creating with paper, ribbon, buttons & other treasures! I can't wait to share all the Paper Treat goodies!

On Sunday and the days following, I will ask a question and possibly give a hint if it's a little tricky! Everyone will have a chance to win regardless if you guess right. For my high tech picking system....I'll put eveyones name in a bowl & have 1 of my 3 children pick the winner!

The funny thing is, I ran to the store to buy MS paper & created this just minutes before running out the door to go meet Martha!

Sometimes I create well under pressure, but usually my head fills with ideas as I try to go to sleep. I like to keep a notebook next to my bed, so I can quickly jot down mental pictures! To bad I can't just snap my fingers & make it appear! Well...it worked for Mary Poppins hehehe!
